First, about this site. Each class has its own blog page. To find it, hover over the "class pages" link at the top and then scroll down to select your course. Through these blogs you can participate in class discussions, find assignments and other important information, and contact me at any time. There are also two resource pages- one for science and one for health, and both are filled with fun, informative links about various topics. Hovering over the "home" button will lead you to important class documents, a parent page, and some other useful web tools. Feel free to explore, and please let me know if any of the links are broken.
Now, about my $$$ FUNDRAISER. Anyone who has been in the science room knows it's desperately in need of new student desks. I've posted a project through Donors Choose.org in order to raise funds to purchase tables that will not only be more comfortable to work at, but also safer for students to use. We've got a ways to go before we reach our goal (just over $2200), but if everyone donates what they can I'm confident we can get this order in before Christmas. Every dollar helps, and all donations are tax deductible. Click HERE to see project details and information about donating. UPDATE: THIS PROJECT HAS BEEN FULLY FUNDED!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO SUPPORTED US!!!
Something new I'm trying this year is a text/email reminder service. If you choose to sign up you will receive text and/or emailed reminders with announcements from class. Announcements could be a reminder to bring special materials in for a class project or a note about an upcoming test or quiz. This is a confidential service; if you choose to sign up all your information is kept private and will not be shared (I will not see your phone numbers or email addresses, nor will you see mine). Signing up is easy, visit your class blog (the links are found by hovering over the class pages link at the top of this page) to find your class code and more information about signing up. Anyone can sign up, including parents, guardians, and students. Don't let "I forgot" be an excuse!!
One final thing- teaching good science requires materials beyond a textbook. While some things can be reused year after year, many cannot (have you ever heard of re-dissecting a frog?). I have a running list of items we need. It can be viewed by clicking the button at the very top of this page (it's also on the parent page). You can bring donations in at any time or send them to school with your student. Thank you in advance for your support!!
Let me know if you have any questions, concerns, or ideas for the site! I'm excited for a fun and productive year! Students, while you're here, take a second to fill out the poll on the sidebar!!
Can't wait to meet you all!
